Music is a love of mine and Aretha Franklin is a major influence in some of the music I listen too. While friends of mine is listening to Smashing Pumpkins I am chilling to To the older music with soul and that is what Aretha Franklin Gives!!!

Everyone writes an article about where they live and the money they make when an amazing person Passes. I want to talk about the heart that she inspired in woman across the world. Aretha Franklin An American Icon. That is what she is!!!! She is the definition of soul music!!! Soul music is the music that makes you move and you can not help that. It just happens. You do not even have to know the song the music but it makes you move!!!

Blues Brothers

I love the movie Blues Brothers where I really found out who Aretha Franklin is!!! Then when you put the music greats together in a movie like Blues Brothers all together its such an inspiration. Aretha Franklin and her music inspire woman today around the world. Her music is the backdrop for many American events. Her voice captures the real America!!! That is an American Icon!!!

When I saw that movie and all the amazing musicians it really was her music that I recognized and felt deep in my soul. The times that she has been the singer for national events and brought the nation to tears with her Voice and Presence. A lovely woman across the board.

The voice that brings up that excitement in your soul and applies a smile to your face. Yes, I said applies because you can not listen to true soul music without it applying a smile to your face. True soul is what gives you that feeling like your about to giggle and that feeling rolls inside you like boiling water. The excitement builds until you explode with excitement and that true joy that comes from an amazing artist like her. I have great memories surrounded by her songs. That is another lovely benefit to awesome music. You usually remember where you were when that song touched your life and it will bring you back to that time!!!

Respect That Is All She Deserves

Respect is a song that I remember well. And that is what Aretha Franklin An American Icon Deserves. The rhythm that woman posses and the vocal power to back it up. I Remember hanging out with a friend of mine Craig. We had the soundtrack to the Blues Brothers and would rock out to that and Oscar Peterson!! I can remember thinking its funny what to Backwoods Guys are doing listening to Aretha Franklin but that is the wide range of people she affected with her music. That is the power of Aretha Franklin An American Icon.

I just wanted to write a tribute page to say the effect that She had on my life and the music I choose to listen to. She is a huge part of the influence to love soul music and affected the way I play music as a musician!!!

As a drummer, I love soul and the feeling and heart that is poured into every beat of her music. Blessed with a voice and stature that made the world's hair stand on end at her amazing additions to American History.
